I voted. Did you?

Regardless of your political party, political leanings, preferences, quirks, and other assorted personality traits, I hope to high heaven that anyone reading today's blog post has taken - or will take - the time to vote.

I am sure it is no secret to you, gentle reader, that I'm currently aligned with those whom I perceive to be committed to restoring balance, common sense, and stability  - not just in our political system but in our country at large. It is my opinion that, since 2017, the United States has been in a tumult of chaos, confusion, hostility, and a true dearth of decorum. And I'm sort of fed up with it all.

To be clear, I really am not a huge fan of any of the candidates whose names appeared on the ballot I completed this morning at my polling booth. Like many others, I tend to vote for the person whom I consider to be the "lesser of two evils." And, lately, it's been slim pickings.

This current administration in Washington, D.C., scares the living daylights out of me. I was raised in a steadfast "Reagan Republican" household. We understood that political machinations were fierce and required our legislators to have an incredibly thick skin. But we also appreciated the fact that, ultimately, it appeared that the Executive and Legislative branches of our government were willing to work together, collaborate, compromise, and show a mature level of diplomacy. For those of you old enough to do so, think back to the days of Tip O'Neal and Ronnie Reagan himself.

Good times, man. Good times.

So, please. Do your civic duty. Fill out your mail-in ballot and take it to your polling location. Or go to the polling location in person. The people there are SO nice!
